A relatively minor AliExpress scam I did not find on the scam thread: fake U.S. shipping
This one is a bit insidious because it is not obvious to the casual user what is going on. Here's the scenario: you need an item to be delivered quicker than if it were to come from Asia. You search on AliExpree and you specify that you want it shipped from the U.S. You find a listing for a fairly common AliExpress item but it is a bit more expensive than the China shipping options. You want to get the item as quick as possible so you order it despite the higher price. Next you get a USPS tracking number and all seems well except that the package is initially being handled by a partner, for example "INFINITYPEAK LIMITED" or "GLOBAL SYNERGY LOGISTICS INC". So what is happening? The package is coming from Asia and will first make a stop somewhere in the U.S. (typically LA area) and then it will proceed on to your address. So not only do you pay more for the item but you also have to wait just as long as a shipment from Asia. Fun, fun. The good news is, though, that you almost certainly will get the item eventually but if you needed it in a timely manner you'd have been better off going with another company like Bezos' baby.
